Dear Runner,Balloch to Clydebank Half Marathon

On behalf of the Dunbartonshire Amateur Athletic Association we are pleased to inform you of their upcoming annual Balloch to Clydebank Half Marathon. Click here for a link to the event website or use the application form attached.
Don't forget as well that the online entry for the 27th Polaroid Eyewear 10K Series is now open!

2013 Event Dates:
  • Helensburgh 10K - Thursday May 16th 2013
  • Clydebank 10K - Thursday May 23rd 2013
  • Dumbarton 10K - Thursday May 30th 2013
  • Vale of Leven 10K and 5K - Sunday June 9th 2013
We have the following updates for entries this year:
  • To enter please go to www.polaroid-10k.co.uk and click enter. You will first be asked to register, then you can select your desired races and proceed to checkout.
  • We have worked hard this year to offset the ever increasing costs to run the series and have set these at £16 per race for non-affiliated runners (£14 for affiliated), plus we continue our buy-3-get-one-free offer on the series at £48 for non-affiliated runners (£42 for affiliated). We have held prices since 2011 prior to this and also managed to keep the 4 for 3 series offer that was introduced then. We hope you still see the races as good value for money.
  • Once again all series entrants in addition to the 4 for 3 offer will have a choice of either Polaroid sports sunglasses or our unique design technical running shirt.
  • We are proud to announce a new partnership for the Series with Sweatshop joining the series as running retail sponsor. More details on this in coming bulletins!

Dear Kelvin Runners,

We're very happy to announce that FitSip is up and running.
FitSip is the world's first hydration armband for sport - and it's for those of us who
like to keep our mouths moist while we run, but who hate to carry a bottle.
It's 100% hands-free, ergonomically designed and is so comfortable you might forget you're
wearing it - until you need it.
We'd be so grateful if you could help spread the word to everyone you know who might be
interested - everyone who runs, jogs, cycles, goes to the gym, walks, climbs, spins, or who has
friends or relatives who do such things or who might want to do them!
If you could do any or all of the following, it would really help us:
* forward this to your contacts and ask them to do the same to theirs
* like us on facebook
* share our facebook page (sharing is done on the bit to the right of the like sign on a facebook page)
* follow us on twitter
* and of course, if you feel like it, buy online at www.fitsip.com

You can just click on the links below.

Thank you so much.
We'd love to hear your feedback, too, so please get in touch.

Hi Stuart and Iain

We will be running the Hogmanay Handicap race this year on Sunday, December 30th. As usual we will congregate in the car park at the West of Scotland rugby ground at around 11am for the staggered start. Please extend a warm invitation to any of your club members who would like to come along and run the course (ice permitting!) around the hills of Milngavie and Baldernock. As usual there is no entry fee but runners can contribute to the Maureen MacLeod's Hospice appeal (this is definitely voluntary but last year some people said we should have let them know beforehand).

I hope to see you both there (any help with the time keeping is always appreciated!),

Regards

Jon Austin

Just a reminder to all those who are coming that we have to pay the remaining £12.50 per head this weekend.
We should therefore be most grateful if you could get the money to either of us before Saturday .
Anyone else who would like to come along can still do so by paying the full £32.50 (more info on post two below).

One or both us us will be there tonight and Friday

Thanks

Joe and Lesley

Following on from Halloween and Bonfire night, there is a new date in the social calendar...

Fishcake Sunday! All welcome at 3pm on Sunday 11th November, at 65 Highburgh Road.

Lesley is making her fabulous fishcakes (with some bits on the side) and as her hoose is a bit wee, Gary has kindly offered to play host in his palatial kitchen!  He is also making the blueberry, almond and chocolate cake and generously providing the wine as well...

Folk just need to let us know if you’re coming so we can make enough food and importantly have enough wine to whet your thrapples!  It will get us all in training for the festive season...

I will be trialing 2 new sessions from next week.
Monday at 6 will be another attempt to have slighter tougher Junior training - not suitably for the littl'uns.
Thursday at 7 will be an extra session for the seniors, with a slight twist. Session will be similar to Mondays, this is not a replacement for but a compliment to them. I am splitting this into an alternate week format - first week females, second week males, third week females, fourth week males and so on.
We'll see how they go for a couple of months and if successful they will become a permanent fixture.

Just for clarification -
  • first Junior session, 13th August
  • first Senior session Females - 16th August,
  • Males - 23rd August)

Cheers, Flash.
